Mediation & Conflict Resolution
Finding a way together
Are you stuck in a difficult conversation?
Would you like to focus on your child, but are having trouble doing so due to a parental conflict?
Do you want to reach an agreement but you don't know how?
Would it be good if you had help from a neutral third-party?
Mediation is a method in which a third-party professional helps individuals or groups find common ground after disagreements. Through collaboration we aim to find solutions that everyone can participate in. Mediation focuses on the future rather than the past, on what works rather than what is "right". A central aim of mediation is to reach an agreement that takes in to account the interests and needs of all involved, even when the situation had led to complications that are hard to see past.
With the help of a certified mediator, we will guide you through a process, confidentially working out the following, step by step:
- Areas where an agreement needs to be reached.
- All perspectives are represented.
- A mutual understanding of what is at stake for each party.
- Various solutions that would address the issue in hand.
- A written agreement and plan of what actions need to be taken by whom.
- An optional follow-up meeting to verify the sustained success of the mediation and review of the plan.
We offer mediation in the following areas:
Parental Counselling "Focus on the child" in case of separation/divorce:
Following separation, it is common for there to be conflict around the subject of care and custody of children. Our approach focuses on the best outcomes for the child alongside offering support with managing the ongoing parental relationship.
Research shows that escalated parental conflict has an impact on the emotional development of children.
As part of a mandated counselling session, we support parents in getting back into a position in which they can take responsibility for de-escalating the parental conflict for the benefit of their children.
Family Mediation:
When disagreements occur related to living together, parenting, separation or divorce, we clarify what is important to all parties involved and work out solutions to elevate the dispute.
General Mediation:
We can also support with conflict in other areas of life such as, with neighbours or at work.
